The After Ace

This A.M. it's time to celebrate! TIFF is here and the stars are out!  More importantly I recently celebrated a milestone and accomplishment of my best friend/soul mate (soon to be movie star) over celestial cocktails and first class food. 
The Ace, located at  231 Roncesvalles  in a.k.a. Roncy Village, a dimly candlelit, romantic diner/bar styled restaurant has absolutely won me over.  I'm not sure if it was the cherry blossom chinoiserie papered wall, or the vintage china dishes that reminded me yet again of my grandmother.

Oh, did I mention cocktails? Yes... and they serve classy, sophisticated, and mature cocktails. 

The "Ace Manhattan", "Ace Fizz", "Vesper","Canadian Sour"~ just to name a few of their offerings, however, I finished the night with an "After Ace".

Served on the Rocks with a drizzle of Campari & a Lemon Zest

To start we shared risotto balls stuffed with Swiss Gruyere Cheese and served with a homemade tomato sauce and steamed greens.
After washing this down with some New Grist - gluten free beer, we shared the Country fried chicken with collard greens, cornbread and ham gravy. Sigh! Unbelievably glorious!
To top the night off we sampled the home made zucchini cake aside homemade oatmeal ice cream and a digestif cocktail named the "After Ace".

To follow we shared the most scrumptious grilled octopus.  It was served with potatoes, fennel, Arugula, black olives and lightly smoked yoghurt.
