The Dish on Politics

This A.M. I am so glad the election is almost here. It seems there is little escape from politics these days; obviously it is all over the news, but I also hear people chatting about it at the mall, on twitter, on Facebook and even the NFL football pregame show has talk and comedy about the election. But in 8 days the commercials, news reports, social media and comedy skits revolving around this election should finally cool off, which I am looking forward to! However, in the spirit of the season I want to compare the candidates, not their stance on Obamacare, Libya or the unemployment rates, but on one of my favorite topics: Food.

I did some research on the web to see what the guys like to eat. After all, at the end of the day they are just guys. They have families, like to travel, enjoy sports and of course, eat. In bipartisan spirit, I will compare the candidates food tastes in alphabetical order. Check out what I came up with. I can't guarantee my findings are 100% accurate, after all you know what they say about 'fact checking' on the internet....

Barack Obama

According to my research Obama's favorite healthy dinner is salmon and when he cooks he likes to throw down a hearty chilli. Michelle is really into fresh healthy meals, she even planted a vegetable garden at the White House. The president enjoys eating healthy, but like any American he loves cheeseburgers, especially from Five Guys burgers and fries. To be expected, as a Chicagoan, he also loves Chicago style pizza. Obama seems to prefer salty over sweet when snacking with some of his favorite snacks to nosh on being smoked salt caramels and trail mix.

Mitt Romney

I discovered that Romney's favorite meal is meatloaf, which Ann makes him every year for his birthday. Ann's meatloaf recipe is unique, with capers in the sauce. Being Mormon, Romney's diet consists of a lot of wheat and organic, locally grown and fresh in-season foods when possible. It seems though that Romney loves ice cream and also has a serious thing for peanut butter, eating peanut butter sandwiches all the time and his fave junk food being Reese's cups. As for fast food, he loves to chow down on a Carl's Junior Jalapeno Chicken Sandwich.

Based on food tastes alone, who would you vote for?
