|Cassie, still deciding whether she likes being on the water or not.|
Downtown Pete is very dog-friendly and many of the restaurants have dog permits so your pooch can hang in the outdoor seating areas while you grab a drink and a bite. We decided to try out a restaurant called Cassis American Brasserie. Right when we sat down our waitress brought over a big bowl of ice water for Cassie and told us the specials. The menu had some classic bar food and sandwiches but many with a French twist. Steve and I shared grouper tacos and a Philly cheese steak sandwich that was topped with blue cheese and served with awesome fries ('frites'), while Cinda got the special, salmon fettuccine that had a delicious buttery cheese sauce. It was a really lovely lunch and the weather was perfect for enjoying the outdoor patio with Cassie. In fact, we enjoyed so much we came back the following weekend and had oysters, tuna ceviche (with a fried, cheese filled habenero pepper!) and the croque madam, which is a ham sandwich slathered in bechamel sauce and topped with a fried egg. Definitly our new favorite spot in Downtown St. Pete.
After lunch at Cassis, Cinda and I found a cute boutique named Cerulean Blu, where we couldn't help treating ourselves to a couple fab pieces. Cinda got adorable Tory Richard magenta colored shorts and a coral beach cover up and I got a taupe colored sweater and a black dress, that doubles as a tunic if you ruche it right, with the arms cut out, both made of stretchy jersey knit.
After our great afternoon Downtown, we headed back to Tampa for the sunset at Dukes Bar at the Hula Bay Club, another place that welcomes pooches with open arms. What a fun day we had!
