In the heart of Ybor City, Bernini is a restaurant I over looked for years. My family went once when I was about 20 and the experience must not have been very memorable, my parents never went back and I had forgotten all about going. Since my visit restaurateur Jason Fernandez bought out his partners and things at Bernini have changed. Changed, because you will have a memorable experience every time you visit Bernini. Located in the historic Bank of Ybor City building, Bernini features cool decor and rich vibrantly presented Italian dishes, all making your visit hard to forget.
There were many stand outs on the menu. I have never heard so many moans in my life when everyone was eating the eggplant parmesan appetizer. That was until they tried the mussels. That was definitely the most moans and pleasure groans I had ever heard while anyone was eating. Well, until the entrees arrived. Foodgasims all around the table. Then all of us arguing. "You have got to try my chopino! It is the best I have had." "No, try my veal osobuco first, it is so tender and amazing." "Ok, I will, but try my pasta." "I can't I have so much in front of me already." "But it is so good you have to try at least half of this veal meatball!" We kept bickering over who's meal was best, with plenty on each plate to share bites with everyone else at the table.
Thanks to my friend Martha, who reminded me about Bernini. I will be back soon and am already looking forward to another memorable experience.
